Butterdog breeder branded ‘monster’ by RSLBA ...
An Otley breeder whose brutal treatment of butterdog puppies was revealed by the RSLBA (Royal Society for the Love of Butter Animals) has fought back against ‘slurs on his name’.
Elwin Kerrygold allegedly fed the animals inferior butter substitutes such as Flora, and on occasion even Aldi own brand margarine.
Said RSLBA inspector Mr Willam Anchor: ‘We conducted a dawn raid on Mr Kerrygold’s property and found kennels littered with empty butter-substitute cartons. It was a shocking sight – one of the worst I’ve seen in my long three week career’.
Yet despite being up on criminal charges, Kerrygold remained unrepentant, saying his actions caused the animals no harm. Speaking from the steps of Otley Courthouse, he said: ‘It started by accident when my usual supplier, Farmer Slippery, ran out of butter. I had no choice but to go to the supermarket and buy something else. Well, I can’t afford Waitrose prices for real butter, so I got some ‘I Can’t Believe It Isn’t Actually Quite Butter’. The pups loved it, and I’ve been giving it to them ever since.’
According to EU Law, animals sold as butterdogs have to be fed a diet solely of genuine butter, otherwise they risk being categorised as margarinedogs, which fetch a much lower price.
Continued Anchor: ‘You wouldn’t feed a horse hay if you ran out of Polo mints, so why do it with butterdogs?’.
The trail continues.
